Adult Sewing Instructor: Sophie St. Claire

Sophie St. ClaireSophie’s extensive sewing, design, and instruction experience has taken her all over the world. Sophie has designed and constructed more than 250 couture wedding gowns in the Western United States and abroad. She has worked in costume design and construction for English speaking theater in Geneva, Switzerland and Ferney-Voltaire, France.  Locally Sophie has worked with Utah Opera where as a costume technician for three seasons and Salt Lake Community College Fashion Institute as an instructor of eight courses of four and half years. Sophie’s past fashion retail experience includes Saks Fifth Avenue, Talbot’s, Britex Fabrics, Nordstrom in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Salt Lake City. Sophie is co-founder of the Association of Fashion Designers and founder of the Salt Lake Sewing workshop. Sophie continues to teach technical sewing courses at The Finishing School and writing free-lance fashion articles for local event and social magazines.
